4 Health Benefits Of Strong Abs

Not only do toned abs look great, they also provide some practical health benefits. Working your abdominal muscles is more than just trying to achieve the perfect beach body, it is about improving your quality of life and increasing your health. So what type of health benefits are we talking about?

Having strong abs:

1. Improves your posture, by helping you stand up straighter and taking the strain off of your back.

2. Decreases your risks of back injury. When lifting heavy objects it is easy to strain your back, which is why strong abdominal muscles help prevent back injuries - your abs will share some of the load.

3. Decrease your risk of developing heart diseases, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes. This is because by working your abs you are burning body fat, and the less body fat that you have the lower your risk is to develop these diseases.

4. Help protect your during athletic activities. Playing sports or doing other athletic activities exposes you to many possibilities of injury, like pulled abdominals. However, by working your abs and making them strong, you decrease the chance of injury.

So you see that strong abs also provide practical health benefits - even more motivation to keep working them! There is no better time than now to start down the road to a new, healthier and stronger you.

Exercise Ball Abs Workouts For Everyone

Exercise ball abs workouts are here to stay. The advance of abs workouts and exercises has produced in the way, many tools and equipment geared towards making the most out of physical motion and stress. The exercise balls (also called Pilates balls or Swiss balls), are perhaps the perfect equipment to work our core are, by giving it strength and good looks.

When you do traditional abs exercises, you are working only one part of your abs for the most time (either your rectus abdominus, the transverse abdominal muscles or the obliques) but with exercise ball abs workouts, you are working a bigger group of muscles at the same time. This makes them a complete solution to develop the core section.

Try these two exercises I show you here and you'll start seeing amazing results and triggering muscles you didn't even know you had!

Abdominal Curl with Exercise Ball

With the abdominal curl with an exercise ball, you are going to work the whole muscle groups on the abs. It is one of the most complete exercise for abs out there.

1. Lie on the exercise ball, parallel to the floor. Knees forming a 90 degree angle.

2. Slowly and with control, lift your shoulder upwards without bending the hips.

3. Slowly go back to the starting point.

4. Repeat for a full set.

Exercise Ball Abdominal Roll-ups

This ball exercise targets the obliques, the rectus abdominus and the hip flexors.

1. Kneel and position the ball in front of you.

2. Lie on top of the floor.

3. Reach out, letting your hands touch the ground, rolling the ball towards your thighs.

4. Walk your hands until the chin touch the ball, while keeping at all times the abs contracted and the shoulders aligned with the hands.

5. 5. Pull forward the ball with your legs, and then bend your knees towards your chest while the ball is rolled beneath the exerciser until the knees touch the chest.

6. Go back to start and repeat for a full set.

Try these instructions, and you'll be surprised how effective exercise ball abs really are. Remember to be constant and complement exercise with a good diet. Good luck!

Flatten That Stomach - Here Are Some Simple Exercises For Your Abs!

Having great abs is everyone's dream, but exercising those stomach muscles can be hard work. If you're going to pay the price you might as well be doing the best exercises you can. So how will you know what works and what doesn't? You'll need to try some exercises out and see which ones work for you.

First off, it's a good idea to know that we need to work the different parts of the stomach. When I first started on this I just thought I had a stomach and a few sit-ups would do the job. Guess what? I found I've got obliques on the sides plus lower, mid and upper abdominals... and they all need attention. Let's get one thing straight... this isn't necessarily easy, unless you're already in peak condition. You'll have to put out a bit. So it's important to choose exercises that will work for you... exercises that you will actually perform over a period of at least several months.

You can go to the gym or just work out on the floor at home. You don't really need to go buying expensive equipment. All those machines you see on the infomercials aren't going to work themselves. It still involves you being willing to put out. A basic workout is to do three sets of 10 each of the exercises you choose to work with.

Basic stomach crunches are the backbone of any abs program. You can just lie down and do them anywhere. Throw in some side crunches to work on those obliques.

Another great exercise is to lie face down, resting on your elbows with hands clasped, then raise your pelvis until your body is straight and hold this position as long as you can. Your abs will start to burn after a while but as you persevere you'll be on the way to that six-pack stomach. Try the hip roll: lie on your back, knees up and roll your knees to the floor on either side. This works the lower abs and the obliques.

Bridging is another routine: lie on your back, knees bent, arms along side and thrust your pelvis up as far as you can.

Supermans will test your resolve: kneel down, hands flat to the floor and extend your left arm forward and your leg straight out backward and hold as long as you can; then repeat with the right. And don't forget... you're an individual. Find the exercise that will work best for you. If you don't like them you won't do them. Some exercises that get results for one person won't get that result for another. There's nothing wrong with cheating either. I find doing my tummy workout in bed before I go to sleep or when I wake up is a good place to get started into the routine.

If you still have some flab around your tummy that you would like to lose I can show you a proven program to get rid of that.

You will lose up to 5 pounds or more in 5 days (and more if you continue). As a bonus you will lose your carbohydrate cravings and not go hungry.

I have recently written a book entitled "Lose Weight -Never Go Hungry" which lays out a plan for overcoming carbohydrate addiction and losing weight.

4 Top Tips to Lower Abs Fat

Fat around the Abs is a common problem for many adults. And, unfortunately, stomach fat is one of the hardest areas to work on. You must never give up though. It is never too late to remove belly fat from around the waist. Here are some things you need to look at doing:

  1. Eat a Healthy Diet- Healthy diet is of vital importance. You need to eat at least 6 servings of fruit and vegetables a day as well as 6 servings of grain. You can have sweet foods and snacks but you need to make sure that you don't eat them that often.

  2. Cardiovascular Exercise- Cardiovascular exercise, and the burning of calories, is the most effective way to burn fat and hence lose weight. You won't just be burning fat from your stomach though; you will be burning fat from your entire body.

  3. Abs Workout- Another thing you have to look at is working the lower belly region with an Ab targeted workout. A mid-section workout will have some effect on lowering fat around the Abs, but it will also build up your muscles and help your posture. A better posture can help you look like you have less stomach fat.

  4. Build your Upper Body- If you want to help with the illusion of less belly fat, you need to also work on your upper body. If you work on building your arms and chest- as they get bigger it will have the illusion of your mid-section looking smaller.
Lowering fat around the Abs, or at least giving the impression that you are thinner is a result of all of the steps I have mentioned above. If you follow these tips, you should see results fairly quickly.
