Getting 6 Pack Abs - The Real Truth

The simple step process getting 6 pack abs is as follows: strengthen your abdominal muscles and lose body fat. The concept is simple, but putting it into action is not. It will take dedication, willpower, patience and time to get a 6 pack abs but in the end, the effort is well worth it.

Below I have summarised few steps you need to take to achieve your goal. Make no mistake it will require a lot of dedication but if followed correctly, it will improve your body.

The first thing that is very important is what you eat and this is the most important part of the plan. What you need to do is to have mini meals instead of big meals as this will aid your metabolism. Also, stop eating fatty foods such as sugars, bread, pasta and so on and instead eat healthy food such as vegetables, eggs, fish, protein. I am not saying that it will be easy and you will have bad days but incorporate health eating and it will help you getting 6 pack abs.

Another aspect is to have a plan of sustained exercises and I would recommend 3 types which are cardio, weighlifting and ab exercises. The cardio exercises involve walking, running, swimming, biking - the choice is your stick with whicever you are comfortable with. You need to do this in bursts so for example if you like running then start of with walking and then build running into your exercise and do this few time per week. Weightlifting is also very important as it burns away a lot of fat. The last 6 pack abs exercise you need to incorporate are exercises specifically for your abs . There are lots of exercises you can do such as crunches, situps and leg lifts.

Here is another simple guide. Examine your posture or how you hold your body. Poor posture can give you that pot-belly appearance, while good posture can promote a taller, leaner and more youthful look. Take a peak at the list below as a guide to good posture.

  1. Head balanced on your neck, not leaning
  2. Shoulders relaxed and down, rolled back
  3. Abdominals contracted, tailbone pointed to the floor
  4. Knees are kept soft, not locked
  5. Ears, shoulders, ribs, hips, knees, ankles all vertically aligned

Your Abs Workout Is The Key To Your Six Pack

Your abs workout is one half of a two part "attack plan" for six pack abs. An abs workout coupled with an abs diet is what gives you super defined flat abs. The diet's main function is to reduce the amount of bodyfat you carry so that your ab muscles can poke through and become visible. Your abs workout is designed to strengthen your ab muscles and increase their size and separation so you get the ripped "six pack of beer" look. If you don't want rippling abs, keep up the abs diet but lower the intensity of your abs workout.

To get the best definition possible, the best separation of individual muscle groups (note: your rectus abdominis is actually one single muscle, but has several mini-muscle groups within it. That's what forms your six pack. They'll all part of the same muscle, but they are separated by small areas of tendons and ligaments) and the best overall look, you must follow 3 key principles.

1. Increase strength. Improving overall core strength is a very important part of your abs workout. Having a stable and powerful mid-section will give you the base that you need to perform more advanced exercises to target the other two key principles.

To develop your strength, perform exercises more quickly but still with as much control as you can. If you're already quite strong, you can use weights to boost the difficulty of the exercises. For example, if you're doing sit ups, put a few potatoes in a pillow case and hold it to your chest while you do each repetition. If you're doing vertical leg crunches, strap some ankle weights on and see if you feel the difference.

2. Increase size. If your abs workout increases the strength of your abs, you will see an increase in size too. Bigger abs means they're more likely to show through your body fat, and once you get the separation down, they'll really pop out. To gain size, go for slow reps of the difficult exercises. This is a traditional bodybuilding technique, using heavy weights and controlled repetitions to engage as many muscle fibers as possible for each exercise.

As mentioned above, you can use weights to increase the difficulty, but there are also many natural bodyweight exercises which you can do without weights.

3. Increase separation. Definition comes through two factors in your abs workout - low bodyfat and well separated ab muscles. To ensure you get proper separation and maximum definition, do plenty of cardio so that your bodyfat is low and your skin is tight over your ab muscles, and then make sure you target the abs from many angles within your abs workout. Do lots of different types of abs exercise, and do larger numbers of repetitions to improve overall tone and shape.

A basic abs workout should be planned around your daily routine, and should aim to attack each of the three principles above throughout the week. Go for one of the principles each day to keep yourself interested and motivated, and to keep your body reacting to the new ab exercises you're throwing at it.

3 Exercises for Sexy Six Pack Abs

Nothing else demonstrates fitness and attractiveness to the opposite sex as well a great looking stomach. So, it is no surprise that both guys and girls want sexy six pack abs. The only problem is, what's the healthiest and most effective way to achieve a six pack of abs?

The answer lies in a low body fat percentage. This is achieved most quickly through a healthy diet, strength training and aerobic exercise.

But to have a really great six pick, you will want a well developed midsection. So I have included 3 of the most effective abdominal exercises as recommended by the American Council on Exercise. By performing the following exercises consistently, week in and week out, you'll get that six pack fast.

Reverse Crunch

It might seem as if this exercise focuses only on the lower abs, but your abdominals are one long muscle, so you can't really separate the upper abs from the lower abs.

1. Lie down on the floor and place your hands on the floor or behind your head (avoid pulling on your neck).

2. Bring your knees in towards your chest until they reach about 90 degrees, with your feet crossed or together.

3. Contract your abs so that you curl your hips off the floor, reaching your legs up to the ceiling.

4. Lower and then repeat the exercise for 12-16 reps.

5. Although this is a small movement, try to use the abdominals to lift the hips instead of swinging the legs to create momentum.

Full Vertical Crunch

During a full vertical crunch, your abs are really worked by involving both your lower and upper body.

1. Lie down on your back and straighten your legs up to the ceiling.

2. Place your hands behind the head (remember, don't strain your neck) and contract your abs so that you lift your shoulder blades off the floor.

3. Then, press your heels towards the ceiling, in order to create a 'U' shape with your torso.

4. Lower and repeat the movement for 12-16 reps.

The Ab Rocker

The Ab Rocker exercise requires the Ab Rocker machine which can be found in most fitness clubs.

1. Sit down on the Ab Rocker and grip the bars with each hand.

2. Contract your abs and tilt forward, by using your abs instead of momentum from rocking back and forth.

3. Release and then repeat the movement for 1-3 sets of 12-16 repetitions.

4. Be sure to go slowly in order to reduce your momentum. Try to focus on your abs instead of pushing with your arms.

How to Flatten Your Abs Without Sit-ups

Many for years have been led to believe that you need to do a massive amount of sit-ups in order to get the flat abs you so desire. The truth is, however, it doesn’t have to be that way at all. As a matter of fact, just a few simple exercises can help you flatten your abs with ease!

The first exercise you can do is called V-ups. These are done by lying flat on the floor with your hands over your head touching the ground. When you have achieved this position, raise your torso and legs in a simultaneous motion while keeping your legs straight. Reach your hands towards your feet making them touch if possible. Hold this position for a few seconds, and then return to the flat position that you first began with. Repeat this as much as you’d like, and you are sure to flatten your abs.

The second exercise you can do is called the lunge Chop. This is done by taking medicine ball in both hands and holding it over one of your shoulders. Step forward with the leg that is opposite to the shoulder over which the ball is being held until the knee is t a ninety degree angle. When you have achieved this position, swing the ball down in a chopping motion. Do this eight times and then switch to the other shoulder. This, too, is another way in which you can flatten your abs.

The last exercise is sort of fun, and it is called the Barbell Rollout. This is done by gripping a barbell over handedly while kneeling on the floor. When this position has been achieved, roll the barbell s far out way from you as possible with your hand still gripping, and then roll it back in towards you. In order for this exercise to be effective, these must be done in sets of ten.

Have fun flattening your abs and getting the stomach of your dreams. NO more will you ever have to go through so much trouble getting rid of the fat.
