Getting 6 Pack Abs - The Real Truth

The simple step process getting 6 pack abs is as follows: strengthen your abdominal muscles and lose body fat. The concept is simple, but putting it into action is not. It will take dedication, willpower, patience and time to get a 6 pack abs but in the end, the effort is well worth it.

Below I have summarised few steps you need to take to achieve your goal. Make no mistake it will require a lot of dedication but if followed correctly, it will improve your body.

The first thing that is very important is what you eat and this is the most important part of the plan. What you need to do is to have mini meals instead of big meals as this will aid your metabolism. Also, stop eating fatty foods such as sugars, bread, pasta and so on and instead eat healthy food such as vegetables, eggs, fish, protein. I am not saying that it will be easy and you will have bad days but incorporate health eating and it will help you getting 6 pack abs.

Another aspect is to have a plan of sustained exercises and I would recommend 3 types which are cardio, weighlifting and ab exercises. The cardio exercises involve walking, running, swimming, biking - the choice is your stick with whicever you are comfortable with. You need to do this in bursts so for example if you like running then start of with walking and then build running into your exercise and do this few time per week. Weightlifting is also very important as it burns away a lot of fat. The last 6 pack abs exercise you need to incorporate are exercises specifically for your abs . There are lots of exercises you can do such as crunches, situps and leg lifts.

Here is another simple guide. Examine your posture or how you hold your body. Poor posture can give you that pot-belly appearance, while good posture can promote a taller, leaner and more youthful look. Take a peak at the list below as a guide to good posture.

  1. Head balanced on your neck, not leaning
  2. Shoulders relaxed and down, rolled back
  3. Abdominals contracted, tailbone pointed to the floor
  4. Knees are kept soft, not locked
  5. Ears, shoulders, ribs, hips, knees, ankles all vertically aligned

Six Pack Abs And A Great Way To Burn Them When They Are Stubborn!

I've always really enjoyed seeing my clients faces when they finish one of our workouts and are holding their stomach's and shaking their heads in satisfied understanding.

You see many times people have come to train saying they've reach what we call a 'plateau' in their abs training. They've become used to a particular exercise and rep range. That's when it gets exciting. I go into this in much more detail in my book - AbMetrics. But for this article I am going to explain what we do.

Basically I work 'opposites' - by this I mean, when that feeling of a plateau sets in, I work with the client to see exactly what they are doing and I reverse the program.

i.e. if they do 100 sit ups for example with just body weight - I reverse them to lower reps of say 10 with weighted abdominal work.

This is a simple example and it is more in depth than that but the gist is exactly as I said. I firstly like to confuse and 'reprogram' the abs - regularly doing this in the way I do blasts through plateaus. Don't get me wrong, these are challenging moments but I love going through them and seeing the other side, where training kicks in to being a 'results based' past time again....

Secondly, I have a complete guide to my 'confusion' techniques in the book but another thing that works wonders is 'exhaustion reps' - these have been around a while and are something you work up to...but after all is said and done and the ab workout is over, I've been known to get my clients straight back into an exercise they've not done in a while or not even heard of. I'm there letting them know its got to be done...etc etc and the results are incredible as the body is not prepared and the mind is already on its way to the showers...

but you can do it alone also. Just don't think about anything else, do your sets then when you know you are finished pop in a new final set of a completely different exercise for say 10-30 reps...do this with as much strict form as possible - THEN finish....

The showers await and your stomach WILL burn...all the way through your plateaus. And six pack abs are the final end result.

Burning Fat with the Abs Diet

If you're one of those people who try diet after diet you'll eventually get to thinking you know all there is to know about healthy eating. It doesn't take much to get first hand knowledge of all the main diet concepts and discover the benefits of each one and how it is meant to improve the body. Once you know all the ins and outs of healthy eating I'm sure you presume nothing will take you by surprise anymore. So let me introduce the Abs Diet which is an unusual variation on weight loss through exercise.

The basic concept is this: the body must burn energy to keep the major organs and muscles functioning and healthy. Any muscle mass gain will force the body into using up more energy. So instead of eating less food to reduce weight, the abs diet concentrates on burning up additional energy, much more than would normally be expended. The excess muscle mass absorbs what would have been stored as fat from the food calories eaten and forces the body to burn off any existing fat expending energy.

For every pound of muscle you add to your body it will burn up fifty calories per day. So an extra ten pounds of muscle will burn off five hundred calories a day without even trying. This works out at one pound per week. The diet is based on a snowball effect, the more exercise you take, the more muscle you add therefore you lose weight faster which in turn will allow you to exercise harder and even more weight will be lost. It's easy to see how once the snowball starts rolling, how quickly it will turn into an avalanche all by itself.

During the abs diet users are allowed only to eat twelve power foods which are rich in nutrients. These provide all the fibre, vitamins and minerals needed for the body to remain fit and healthy over the six week diet period. The twelve foods are hot oat cereal, peas and beans, almonds, spinach and a few other green vegetables, berries, eggs, wholegrain bread and cereals, lean meat such as turkey, low fat dairy produce, olive oil, peanut butter and protein powder. These and only these should be eaten during the course of the diet.

It may seem a little difficult to stick with this diet for six weeks but the compulsory exercising should make it easier and it won't be long before you notice a big difference. Not only will you lose weight but you will develop a great set of abs and a toned body to show off. You will be shifting some of the fat on your body to muscle, so although it may look like you're not losing weight, the fat will be replacing itself with muscle. However it is likely you will shed up to twelve pounds during the first fortnight on this diet.
