Yoga For Abs - Six Pack The Yoga Way!

Among the different methods to achieve a flat stomach, there's one that has been gaining ground over the last years, and now it stays as a permanent routine on thousands of gyms around the World: Yoga. But Yoga for abs is nothing new; many people in the western world are discovering how it can have a positive impact in their lives.

Yoga relies on poses, and these Yoga poses that we are talking about will strengthen your abs in a way you thought it was impossible. On the other side, is good to note, that any change must be integral - that means that if you really want to see results you'll also have to work your way to reduce excess fat (cardio and a great diet with stable sugar levels are critical components for success).

What are the great poses on yoga for abs?

The Bow Pose.

Lie flat on your stomach and grab your ankles with both arms while lifting at the same time your head. You should end up resting on your stomach. NOTE: This is great also for chronic constipation!

The Peacock Pose.

In this pose you'll need to balance your abdomen on your co joined elbows while at the same time raising your legs. This is a hard pose that you may not achieve at first, but still will do wonders for your abs.

Sun Salutations

This a pose combo. I tried to do these and at first found it very challenging. That's the thing with yoga, you may think it's easy but it's not! Sun salutations have also a spiritual importance in yoga, and like I said it involves motions, backward and forward motions. Sun salutations are a great way to begin your yoga fro stomach workout.

Cat Cow stretch

This exercise will stretch your abdominals, allowing them to grow. Stretching is also a way to strengthen your muscles. To do this, come on all fours and bend your spine on both ways, like a cat.

Although most people perceive these exercises as useless, I challenge you to just try them. You'll see how good they are! And we are talking about just yoga for abs here, in the end you'll find yoga has solutions for very part of your body. Good luck getting that tight stomach!

Exercise Abs for Symmetry

The ripped look is something most body builders and even average people strive for. It is a particularly attractive look but to exercise the abs is the wrong direction. Let me explain. The abdominals are the center piece of a ripped muscular body. No two ways about it. If a guy or gal has a nice developed body but their belly has a pouch or is distended in the case of a pot belly, the muscular body some how loses it's legitimacy. It's just a fat guy or girl with nice arms or shoulders or whatever. The reason for that can be found in the science of aesthetics.

In the case of men, the V shape is a natural triangle that is sought out by the eye. There is a certain symmetry the eye looks for when assessing the athletic attractiveness of a body. The V shape is the key. The differential between the size of the shoulders and the narrowness of the waist is recorded by the eye and the brain makes a quick assessment, defining the person as fat or thin, attractive or not attractive.

Another aspect of aesthetics is the optical illusion. When we look at any area, our eye immediately looks for detail. If there is no detail, the eye looks to the outer edges and makes assumptions, decisions and judgments about the area based on the outer edges. This applies to the abdominals. When you have a layer of fat across the skin of your abdominals, the abs themselves do not show through. This means the torso is featureless apart from the belly button. The eye naturally wanders out to the edges and focuses on the broadness, creating the optical illusion that the torso is bigger than it really is.

Conversely, when the layer of skin across your torso is thin and supple, showing the subtle shadows and arrangements of the abdominals, the eye settles on this detail. It ignores the outer edges and therefore judges the torso to be narrow. This is a documented and scientifically conclusive phenomenon. An optical illusion.

The eye travels easily from the wide shoulders to the detail of the abs, giving it the impression and perception that the V shape is particularly strong. This V shape is identified, subconsciously by women, as good breeding stock. Good genes. Naturally it is not genes at all but simply a little work and effort.

The best exercise for abs is no exercise at all!! Haha. Now you are really confused. The fact is people are confused about abs. They think, yes I want nice abs and begin to train them. What happens when you train your abs? They GROW! They get bigger! This destroys the V shape that you are after in the first place. The abdominals is a large group of muscles that respond easily to a little pedestrian exercise. They rip easy! The trick is keeping them small. That means controlling your calorie intake and reducing your body fat percentages. In this way, you get what you are really looking for-. Symmetry.

Without a positive attitude your dream to be toned, healthy and in shape may be replaced by sadness because you were unable to achieve your goal. You need to tell yourself that you can achieve anything you put your mind to.

Abs, Diet, Food and Nutrition

Most people think that doing thousands of sit ups and crunches will give them a perfect midsection. Unfortunately for most people, this won't work. To get a nice set of abs you have to work hard in the gym as well as in your own kitchen. You don't have to start working out on your kitchen counter but you do need to eat the right foods.

The reason that the midsection is such a big problem for so many is because this is where the majority of people store fat. To get your abs to show you need to get rid of this fat through diet and exercise. The simplest way to put it: you need to consume less calories than you burn so that your body uses your fat stores for energy.

One common misconception is that eating fat makes you fat. The truth is that eating too much of anything (fat, carbohydrates or protein) will make you fat. Fat is no different. You shouldn't totally avoid fats but you should reduce your intake of saturated and trans (bad) fats.

Sugar is a big concern if you're trying to eat for your abs. Sugar is digested very quickly and if you don't use all of those calories right away, (which you likely won't) all the extra calories will be converted and stored as fat.

Stay away from foods that are high in sugar such as candy, soda, sugary snacks and other junk foods. If you really want to eat these, do so in moderation. Don't eat the whole bag of cookies in one sitting.

In addition to sugar, you should also stay away from refined carbs. These include white bread, white rice and white pasta (or anything with white flour). Like sugar, these are digested quickly, and if not burned immediately, are stored as fat.

You shouldn't cut all carbs out of your diet. Whole wheat bread, whole wheat pasta and brown rice are all digested slowly. These will release energy steadily throughout the day and give you more flexibility on when to burn the calories. Eat foods that are high in fiber, low in calories (fruits, vegetables, salads, whole wheat flour) to make you full for longer and keep your total calories down.

To get results in the shortest amount of time you need to put yourself on a good exercise regimen that will burn calories and build abdominal muscles. Diet alone won't give you the perfect set of abs.

Forget Crunches If You Want Six Pack Abs

That can't be right can it?

Surely if you do nothing else but do ab crunches all day long you'll end up with a stomach like a washboard?

Er, well no, that's not strictly true...

In fact, not only is it possible to get six pack abs without a single crunch, it's also possible that relying on relentless crunching is moving you away from your desired flat stomach!

Ok, before I get carted off by the men in white coats, let me explain. Come to think of it, even if you *did* call the men in white coats, it would be *me* they would agree with!

It's all to do with the physiology, the construction of the body around the abdomen. A six pack is a display of defined abdominal muscles. Crunching is a superb way of strengthening and building these muscles, but it's vital to bear in mind, that if you currently don't have that six pack, your ab muscles will most likely be covered with a layer of fat. It doesn't have to be a rippling spare tire, Homer Simpson style, but there will be a layer of fat covering those muscles.

If you simply concentrate on building the abs, but do nothing about the fat, then as your abs develop, not only will they not be visible, but they will actually be pushing the layer of fat outwards! This is the last thing you want!

The layer of fat is one of the hardest areas to get rid of, so you need to start an all-round fitness regime if you really want a six pack. Try to focus on a good cardio workout, some sort of aerobic type exercise that will get your blood pumping and keep it in your target heart rate zone for at least 30 minutes and do your cardio at least 5 days a week for best results. Brisk walking, jogging, swimming and TaeBo are all good examples of a cardio workout. Gradually, and this won't and cannot happen overnight, as the fat layer disappears, your ab muscles will become closer to the surface, and therefore more visible.

Take it from me, as someone who's done it, the ab muscles get plenty of workout in everyday life, so are often defined enough so that once the fat layer had gone, they give off that familiar six pack look.

So there you are, a simple explanation of biology has got rid of almost any need for those horrible crunches! You may want to do them to buff up your abs once the can be seen, but blimey they are hard enough to do at any time let alone if the effort is just going to waste!

Getting that elusive 6 pack doesn't have to be hard, you just need to know the facts. To learn the best way to get Rock Hard Abs and receive a free copy of the special report "The Stubborn Fat Solution" please visit:http://www.squidoo.com/flatten-your-abs
