Abs By Summer

So if you're like most of us you have been longing for a visible set of abs for as long as you can remember. I know for a fact I was after that elusive ripped mid-section for years. With all the information that is out there it seems like an overwhelming task that will never happen. Between the media, all the fitness magazines highlighting models with perfect genetics and the constant onslaught of ab gizmos guaranteed to bring results in minutes a day, its enough to make you want to throw in the towel and run for the nearest fast food joint.

There is a lot of good news and some bad news.

Bad news first: A really nice defined midsection is the result of hard work and commitment to a fairly strict diet plan.

Now for the good news: It is not impossible and probably easier than you might think to bring out your much-anticipated "Six Pack".

This two-step process is guaranteed to bring results; the only variable as to your outcome will be how much you work versus how much you cheat.

First things first............. Your diet will need to be as close to perfect as you can stand. Best results will be had by those who can eliminate sugars and processed foods and replace them with high quality proteins (chicken, fish, turkey and protein powders) and plenty of whole grains and fibrous carbs.

· Get rid of all soda and alcohol in your diet, these are empty calories and actually work against your fitness goals.
· Add more protein to your diet. This one is too easy.
· Try to stick to whole grains (whole wheat breads and pitas for sandwiches).
· Fibrous carbs (with regards to vegetables - the greener the better).
· Water - 8 glasses a day is the minimum. More if you exercise.

Second, Ab exercises: You may not believe this, although this is the least of your worries. Diet is much more important when it come to a lean midsection than what or how many ab crunches you do.

Most of the people I know with really defined abs tell me that they never even do a single crunch or leg lift. I am not sure I believe them when they tell me this although I am sure it is not too far from the truth.

You can get away with doing a couple of exercises three times a week and see very nice results.

I would suggest doing an exercise for your Rectus Abdominis (middle and upper abs), another for your lower abs and at least one stretching movement.

There are tons of exercises I could name, although the ones that work best seem to also be the easiest to perform. The standard Crunch for upper abs will always get the trick done and can be done anywhere, so there is never any excuse not to do them.

· Try to perform three sets to failure.

Leg raises for your lower abs not only hit the abs well, they will also force you to keep your lower back tight, thus killing two birds with one stone.

· Also three sets to failure.

I would suggest to stretch the entire abdominal wall after each workout. This will keep your midsection tight and limber for years to come.

So to wrap things up, getting the abs of your dreams is not nearly as impossible as you might think and can become a reality if you are willing to put in some work on the diet and complete a few exercises per week.

Please remember to keep it simple and always stay positive in reaching your goals.

Make sure to always consult a licensed physician before taking on any new fitness endeavor.

The Secret to Six Pack Abs

The secret to six pack abs is a much coveted piece of information. One of the questions which I am asked most is, "how do I develop six pack abs?" Everyone wants them but very few people are willing to do what it takes. Most people barely have any idea about how to get them.

Sure, they could do lots and lots and lots and lots of crunches, but would they really want to? The secret to six pack abs isn't complicated and it's not hard to understand yet so many people miss it. They go off in the wrong direction and use the wrong means to get six pack abs.

Let me let you in on this dirty little secret...

Parading a six pack, washboard abs and well-defined abdominals is NINETY FIVE PERCENT diet and only 5% exercise. Yes, you read that right. You can do lots and lots and lots and lots... ok you get the picture, but you can do lots and lots of crunches, and you'll never have a six pack.

Don't be a whiner, be an achiever. I'm going to give you 3 tips to help your diet, and ultimately make use of the secret to six pack abs. But first I want you to realize that nothing will happen unless YOU take action.

  1. The secret to six pack abs is helped by spending more than you consume. No matter how much you eat during the day, your output must be higher than your input. This will allow you to drop the belly flab and have the sexy abs you want.
  2. Stay away from white bread. If the secret to six pack abs had a mortal enemy, it would be processed foods. Things such as white bread (why did you think it was white?) have been processed way too much to be healthy. Research has proven that highly processed foods are more likely to give you belly fat. When the goal is a six pack, belly fat is bad because it covers them up and shields them from the eyes of the world.
  3. Get fat. Just not on your stomach. Scientists call them essential fatty acids and yes, they are essential. Unfortunately they have been stripped from most shelf items and it is your responsibility to put them back in. They are omegas 3, 6 and 9 and will help the secret to six pack abs have its greatest effect.

Six pack abs say a lot about someone - they have their act together and they go for what they want. Most guys don't have what it takes; they give up before they make their treasure. The greatest tip cannot help you unless you use it, so with power go out and USE the secret to six pack abs.

Flat Abs - Everything You Need To Know

Everyone wants flat abs, and if you're reading this now, my guess is you do too. But it's difficult to get flat abs though, right? Wrong. Flat abs are a combination of three key ingredients:

1. Eat right.

This is the crux of flat abs really. You see, the reason people don't have flat abs is because of the stored body fat that sits over their stomachs. For men, this is naturally where the body deposits long term energy storage (fat). For women, the body stores fat on the stomach, but mostly on the thighs and hips. Unfortunately for us, it's impossible to reduce fat in specific areas - your body will burn the fat evenly all over.

By reducing your levels of body fat, your abs will naturally flatten. The less fat you give your body the better. There's one surefire way to reduce your bodyfat levels, and that's eating low calorie foods. Aim for low fat foods, and avoid sugary and sweet foods as well

Secondly, eat lots. That might sound silly if you want flat abs, but bodyfat storage is the body's long term defense mechanism back from our days as cavemen when food was scarce. Cavemen didn't know when the next meal might be, so we developed a tendancy to stockpile energy in the form of fat. If you eat little and often (say, 4-5 small meals a day), your body will learn to stop holding onto the fat. As an added benefit, your metabolism will go up when you eat so your body will burn more calories off during the day!

2. Workout.

Flat abs are possible, but only if a) your body fat is low, and b) you have good muscle tone around your midsection. If your ab muscles aren't very strong, they may naturally push out and give your stomach a rounded look. By strengthening and firming up those muscles, your abs will be much flatter.

The second reason for working out is to help burn off excess body fat that you're already carrying. Try and do 30 minutes exercise a day, even if it's just walking (briskly) to the shops, taking the dog around the park or swapping the drive to work with a short bike ride. Once you work it into your lifestyle, flat abs will come naturally and stay forever!

3. Drink plenty of water.

This is a quick one really, but our bodies live on water. Without enough water, everything stops working properly. Drink 8 glasses of cold water a day, and see how your digestion improves, your skin tone improves, your alertness improves and so on. If your body is working in peak condition, you're much more likely to achieve flat abs quickly.

These tips for flat abs are taken from the many tips available inside possibly the best book on six pack abs (or just flat abs if you don't want a six pack), The Truth About Abs.

As the author shows, getting flat abs isn't hard, but it does take a bit of effort on your part, but so does everything else that's worth having. There isn't any magic button, single exercise or instant pill that will give you flat abs, but there are certain ways of doing everything to make sure you get the most out of what you put in. Follow the tips above, and you're halfway there - http://TheTruthAbout6PackAbs.com

Abs Workouts For The Beginner

Before I wreck your body by giving you advice that will totally wreck the V shape you are really looking for, Let me say, if you have too much excess fat, you should focus on fat reduction and not enlarging your abdominal muscles. There is a lot of confusion about getting a ripped six pack and I can understand why, so let me clarify this exceptionally convoluted reality.

It is very counter intuitive. The truth often is. In this case, I point to the ab machine company's sensing the great demand for a nice set of abs, and inventing contraptions that actually kill what you are working for in the first place. It is confusing literally for people only because the answer is too easy. Being so easy, it is rejected by the "logic departments" of most sensible peoples minds.

I will give you a few work outs below but this article is really not about enlarging your abdominals. Why? Why would an article about abs exercises actually be telling you not to exercise the abs? Well, the answer lays in the symmetry of your physique and what you are really looking for. For men in particular, the shape of the attractive body is a nice V shape. Even if you don't want that body builders body, but to look more like "Brad Pit" for example, which most women would agree is very attractive. You still don't want to grow those abdominals. Here's why.

Increasing the size of the abdominals actually kills that sexy V shape that you should actually be seeking. The V shape of large (ish) shoulders and a very tight waist is actually what you are looking for. To increase the size of the abdominals too much actually gives one a square shape,. Not what you want! The smaller the waist, the wider the shoulders the better and more satisfactory your physique is to the eye. The eye uses a quick scan of a body and tends to linger around the abdominals. The reason for that is the very shape itself. It POINTS to your abdominals. The eye looks at the differential between the width of the shoulders and the smallness of the waist to ascertain whether the individual has a nice body. (I imagine I must be blowing your mind by now if you haven't heard of this before)

So here is my advice. Reduce fat. You can go on a limited calorie intake diet and drop a few pounds a week. Within a month you will be amazed how much detail will show on your belly. The second thing is to actually have detail on your belly. The eye tends to look for detail. A flat plain featureless area attracts the eye to the outer edges. What this does is create the optical illusion of the area being bigger than it actually is. So doing a certain amount of abdominal crunches and sit ups is required. However, to focus exclusively on the abs and enlarge this quite responsive muscle group, is a mistake. Making them bigger or enormous will kill the V shape that you are really seeking!
