Six Pack Abs - Don't Go Through Life Without Them!

Why Are Six Pack Abs So Rare?

A washboard stomach is a rare thing these days. Although you see a lot of people in magazines and movies with great abs, you rarely see a regular guy or girl walking around with a six pack. Most people eventually give up on their quest to get a defined midsection. They believe that it is only something for movie stars or super models. I'm telling you to quit thinking that way!

Lifting a Large Amount of Weight is Not As Impressive as Toned Abs

There are many, many more guys who can bench 315 pounds, than there are guys with a tight midsection. Many women can jog over 6 miles, but not many women have 6 pack abs. If you want to be exceptional, than having a defined midsection is the way to go. If you are spending any time in the gym at all and you don't have a 6 pack, then you are spending your time doing the wrong things. You will need to shift your focus if you want great muscle tone in this area of your body.

When Your Abs Are Defined, Your Whole Body Will Look Great

The fat around your stomach area is usually the last to go. If you get to the point where your abs are showing, then I guarantee you that the rest of your body looks amazing as well. I believe that this is the reason that people find toned abdominals so sexy...they know that the rest of the body must look toned as well! So if you focus on a 6 pack, everything else will fall into place.

Getting a Washboard Stomach is Mainly About Diet and Cardio

I swear that you could drop all those crunching and sit up movements and get amazing abs. How do I know this? Well, I haven't done a crunch in over 5 years and my abs are more defined then ever. Have you ever seen the TV show "Survivor". By the end of the show almost every person has really defined six pack abs and I know that none of them got there by ab exercises. You don't want to go to that extreme, but it does show you what low body fat will do.

Ab Exercises Probably Account for Only 10% of the Results

I don't think you need to directly target the abs to get a great mid section, but if you want pick one and hit it for 4-5 sets. The majority of your time should be spent on a bit of lifting for the rest of your body and intense cardio. As far as choices of cardio go, running on a treadmill or running outside is the way to go. Your abs work harder with running, because there is a certain amount of balancing involves between your legs and upper body. If you are on an exercise bike, your abs don't have to work at all. Your body is being stabilized by the seat.

Summary: You probably just need to increase the cardio and decrease the calories if you don't have six pack abs. I know it sounds almost too simple, but believe me it will work for you.

Our flabby stomach fat is hiding our 'six pack'!

The most important aspect of great looking abdominals is losing the extra belly fat.

And the biggest mistake for anyone wanting 'six pack abs' is, wasting time pumping away, training their abs directly with crunches, sit ups, leg raises and other ab specific exercises!

Too often, people try so hard to get that 'six pack' to show , and waste most of their time at the gym performing hundreds of sit-ups. Ab specific exercises do not help in developing your core / stomach muscles.

And it will not burn stomach fat.

Lastly, crunches and other meaningless abs exercises will not give your abdominals much resistance to work against.

The Truth About Six Pack Abs is, your time is better spent on a full body workout program that will stimulate a higher metabolic response and increase the fat burning hormone levels in the body!

Therefore, the only way to strip off stomach fat is with a good total body exercise program and eating a healthy diet.

After all, it is the stomach fat that is covering our abs, and all of us have stomach muscles waiting to be revealed under our belly fat.

Losing the stomach fat is the most important aspect of attaining that 'six pack'.

The best exercises for losing that stubborn belly fat are exercises that works on the largest portions of the body at once! Exercises such as the Renegade Dumbbell Rows and Mountain Climbers on floor are very effective.

Hence, you will lose much more body fat by focusing the majority of your training time with special combinations of high intensity full body, multi joint exercises.

High intensity exercises that works on large muscle groups such as the legs, upper and lower back and chest are more effective for fat loss and gives the biggest fat burning response.

So don't waste your time with hundreds of crunches or sit ups, instead look at full body workouts that give enough resistance to get you down to 6-15 repetition range per set are more effective. And if you eat right, your 'six pack' will be showing.

Having A Baby And The Six Pack Abs - Inside And Out

Many women, when they have given birth, find it increasingly hard to rebuild or restructure the abdominal region. I have always felt that a woman's abdominal structure is truly one of the most impressive forms of the human body.

I also know, through my research that many women not only find it hard to re-vamp their abs but also, internally. There is a little topic I like a lot called - Kegels.

The book - AbMetrics - focuses a great deal on the internal physiology for both men and women and the need to be 'aware' of the internal workings and feel of your abdominals as you do any midsection/trunk exercise.

The Kegel - named after Dr. Arnold Kegel - primarily focuses attention on the pelvic floor muscle.

Up until the kegel exercise was created, women had to either put up with urinary stress incontinence (the inability to prevent urination when laughing or jumping or other forms of exertion) or risk a possible surgery - which often did not work.

So, what I now help my clients train for is both internal as well as external focus.

Basically, men and women can benefit from this type of focus. Women, for the above reasons, but men also - and the exercise can also have proven effect upon a male's ejaculatory response.

But back to the abdominal and trunk exercises - women who have recently given birth should definately understand this simple process and the exercises it involves to not only give them well defined and strengthened abdominals, but internally, strengthen the muscles that can really be affected during pregnancy.

Tristan Lewis is a Certified Fitness Professional, Personal Trainer and Author of the most informative book on abdominal training on the internet. He has travelled the world training clients and has spent 15 years in over 15 Countries in the research of his book. His AbMetrics - The Global Almanac of Proven Abdominal Training was researched thoroughly and provides many new and exciting proven abdominal exercises as well as a structuring of the 'classics' that work. The Best Abs Exercises And Workout For Six Pack Abs

The ultimate holy grail for people training their abs is to have the best abs exercises built into one workout. The workout should be easy, quick and fun, but effectively work all the ab muscles evenly. The best ab exercise workout should also be combined with a proper, healthy and balanced diet to lower your bodyfat and help your new abs to show through after your workouts.

The Best Abs Exercises

The crunch
Lie on your back and bend your knees so your feet are flat on the ground. Now cup your hands behind to head to offer support, contract your abs and lift your shoulder blades off the ground, being careful not to curl your neck into your chest. Hold for a second, and relax.

The bicycle
Lie on your back, bring your knees to your chest and then imagine you're riding a bicycle your legs, keeping your feet 10-12 inches off the ground. As your knees move up and down, perform crunches and touch your elbows to the opposite knee. For example, straighten your right leg and draw your left leg towards your chest. As you do, crunch and touch your right elbow to your left knee, then swap sides.

The plank
Lie on your front with your hands in front of your face, and your forearms under your chest. Lift your bodyweight onto your forearms and toes, keeping your body and back in a straight line, like a plank. Hold for 30-60 seconds, and relax.

Leg raises
Lie on your back with your hands by your sides, palms down. Cross your ankles over and keeping your legs as straight as you can, lift your feet into the air so your legs are almost vertical. Hold for 1-2 seconds, and gently lower before repeating, but don't let your feet touch the ground inbetween reps!

The Ab Exercises Workout

Let's take the four best ab exercises described above and turn them into a workout. We'll attack the ab muscles from different angles in different orders, to keep things interesting and so your ab muscles are worked out fully.

First, go for a few crunches. These are the backbone of most ab workouts, and are one of the best exercises around. Do 3 sets of 10-15 reps with a 90-120 second rest (If you can't manage so many reps, do 8-12).

Next, we'll attack the obliques with the plank. Hold it for 30-45 seconds, then rest for 90-120 seconds. On your second go, hold it for 40-50 seconds, then rest. On the third time, aim for 60 seconds! If you're finding it easy, start from 60 seconds and work your way up to 120.

Thirdly, we'll workout the lower abs with a few leg raises. These are quite difficult, so do less reps in each set, say 8-10, and take slightly longer rests inbetween sets if you need to, say 120-150 seconds. Do 3 sets, and then we'll move on.

You should be pretty tired by now, right? If you're not, this last exercise will finish you off nicely. Lie on your back and prepare for the bicycle. Aim for 3 sets of 8-10 reps, since this is a bit of a killer exercise too. And then you're done! Don't forget to stretch out after your workout to avoid being too sore tomorrow.

The best abs exercise workout you can do is whatever you enjoy the most. If you're enjoying working out your abs, then you're going to put more effort in and get more results out. The ab exercises you choose should be the best for you, not the best for someone else, so make sure you try out a wide range of ab exercises so that you can find your favourite and build it into your workout.

Our health is very important to us. Having lower back pain can cause a lot of discomfort and inconvenience to our lives. Our abs muscles will be more targeted if we use core exercises instead of crunches or sit ups.

Toning up your middle muscles will definitely give them a tighter, flatter, firmer appearance. And when you lose weight overall, you are bound to downsize your waistline. They assist in dozens of movements and exercises. And they help you feel strong and centered. if you indulge in the typical diet and sedentary lifestyle, this often results in reduced insulin sensitivity. Added on top of everything else, your fat tissue becomes so incredibly resistant to your attempts to lose it, it seems like you will be stuck with it forever.

By firming up the abs muscle, lower back pain can be greatly reduced. Diet is only half the battle. You will also need to exercise in order to effectively tone up up your abs. Exercising without the right diet is can be done, but it will take an awful long time.

Lower the risk of back pain by exercising properly, targeting the core muscles in your abs. So get started on a program that creates core fitness through a workout program that will flatten your abs and reduce lower back pain.
