How To Get Abs

Focusing on how to get abs is definitely one of the most coveted and sought after goals of most people. The truth is that it's not that difficult to get abs - especially since they're actually already there, but just covered by a layer of fat and water. The secret to getting abs is working off the fat that surrounds your abs - and this requires a combination of the right balanced fat burning diet, the right weight training routines and the best abdominal training program you can find. It also will require some dedication and patience. It's important to remember to keep going if you don't see results. You will see results, eventually, and they will surprise you. If you give up, you certainly won't see any results at all!

Diet? Just What Kind of a Diet?

The minute we see the word 'diet' we tend to groan and give up already. The fact is, though, that working off the fat that's hiding our abdominal muscles must come with a proper diet. Professional bodybuilders and fitness trainers tend to go so far as to say that 80% of our physique is due to diet, rather than a lack of exercise. Of course, exercise is important (and fun, too) but diet is even more important.

For abdominal training, the kind of diet you need to go on is actually not so bad at all. It really consists of 40% carbs (such as oatmeal, brown rice, sweet potatoes), 40% proteins (such as chicken, tuna, lean red meats and turkey) and 20% good fats (from mono-unsaturated or poly-unsaturated sources, such as virgin olive oil.) As you can see, this is actually quite a normal diet, and nothing too complex or life changing. During your extensive work out period (in the beginning) it's also a good idea to avoid fruit and dairy, due to the fact that these foods can often slow down fat loss.

Typically, if you're a guy, you start seeing your abs when you have just below a 10% ratio of body fat. If you're a woman, it's usually below 13% body fat. This doesn't mean you won't see significant results sooner.

Abs Exercises?

Yes, and they're generally quite fun. There's a whole range of exercises that you can use, and the important thing to remember about abdominal exercises is that your abs are designed for function, not for being built up. This means that ab exercises ought to be functional - such as crunches, or leg lifts, sit-ups etc. Your abs are there to allow your body to move and bend forwards, sidewards and backwards. By understanding how your abs work, you are able to find effective training methods.

Also, because of the way your abs work, doing the same exercise over and over does not tend to be as effective as you would hope. Your abs strengthen and become 'immune' as it were to that exercise. It's important to keep your abdominal training varied, with different exercises and methods. There are also certain exercises that will work better for you and not for others. This is because your abs are strong in certain ways and weak in others, while someone else has a different set of abs with their own weaknesses and strengths. Cardio training is also highly important when you look at the subject of how to get abs, and it should not be overlooked.

How To Get Perfect Abs, Suprisingly It Is Really About Presentation!

To get the perfect abs, you need to begin thinking about the task differently. In most peoples minds, images of sweating and groveling on the floor come to mind. However, if you approach it intelligently, you can really get a perfect set of abs without too much trouble or work.

To approach the task intelligently, first lets look at what we are really tying to accomplish then we can formulate a good way to complete our goal in the easiest and simplest way possible.

Abs are actually less about hard work and more about presentation. To illustrate the concept, let me give you an analogy. Lets pretend we got our mountain bike out of the shed and placed it on the ground laying it side ways. Then we take a thin blanket and cast it across the mountain bike. Immediately after the blanket settles we can see the bike. The bike is still familiar to make out. We can see the outline of the wheels and the peddles are sticking up through the blanket. The handle bars are easy to make out too because we can guess whats under the thin blanket, by seeing the clues and shapes of the bike.

Now lets try this again, but this time we remove the thin blanket and instead throw on a mattress. The thick mattress covers the bike entirely and gives absolutely no clue what is under that thick mattress. There are no shapes at all to make out. Just a mattress.

The fat layer you have over your abs can be like the thin blanket or like the thick heavy mattress. If it is like the thick mattress then you have no definition. The abs are actually a large muscle group that is easily trained and responds quite well to stimulation. You can literally create a desirable set of abs quite quickly.

For most people, the hard work is uncovering those abs, so they show. Getting a perfect set of abs is about presentation. It's about reducing your calorie intake and reducing your body fat percentage.

Simple Tips for Great Abs

The abdominal muscles support the trunk and keep the internal organs covered. They also allow movement of the body. These muscles contract to give the power for carrying out body movements.

Weak abdominal muscles can cause several conditions like back pain, muscle strain and even hernia. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen these muscles such that we can escape such conditions from affecting us.

What are the four abdominal muscles?

These are transverses abdominus, rectus abdominus, external oblique muscles, and internal oblique muscles. They are present in between the ribs and the pelvis region in the body.

Of late, developing abs and making the six-pack abs visible has become very much a requirement among people. It gives a great look to the body, boosts one’s ego and people become socially acceptable. I mean, who wants a man having a huge paunch? It presents a very unpleasant site. Besides, people are becoming more health conscious by the day. They have realized the importance of keeping slim, trim and fit and having a well-maintained physique.

Developing great abs is a process and needs dedicated efforts. It is a two-step process where you cannot neglect one for the other. Here I recommend some simple tips you should follow to develop the abs.

First, regulate your diet. Consult a dietician. Prepare a diet chart based on your body mass index (BMI). Have food high on proteins. Avoid red meat. Avoid excess dairy products, food excess in calories and alcohol. Avoid excess alcohol especially beer. These not only make you fat but also are also bad for the heart. Have plenty of water.

How does diet regulation help?

Diet regulation helps in maintaining the calories level in the body. Only the essential amount is used and excess calories are not taken in. Thus, it helps to prevent accumulation of fats in the body. Besides, high protein intake helps to increase body strength. Also food and drink items bad for heart, arteries etc are not taken.

Second, exercise daily to keep fit, physically strong, and develop great abs. At the outset, physical exercise is also in two steps. First, do regular jogging or running. If this is not possible owing to time constraints and busy work schedules, join a gym or make your own home-gym. Buy treadmills, elliptical machines and exercise bikes. Spend at least one hour daily on these three equipments. As you go on, you may add on more time as you feel.

The next part is abs development exercises. The essential exercises include basic crunches, abs rollers, abs trainers, hip-lifts and leg raises. It is always good to get training from a professional expert. Be careful while doing these workouts. A poor posture can result in long sustainable injury.
